GDPR Awareness Training

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years. The regulation fundamentally reshapes the way in which data is handled across every sector, from healthcare to banking and beyond. In this GDPR Awareness Training, we will cover the basics of the GDPR

The GDPR mandates include provisions on staff accountability and demonstrating compliance. Our standard and customised training provide specific regulations to ensure accountability, maintaining data quality principles and implementing appropriate measures to protect data. The GPR Awareness training fulfills the GDPR obligations to:

  • Bespoke training and certification of a Data processor, controller or Data Protection Officer and high risk or high-volume processing.
  • The accountability provisions of the GDPR include taking a risk-based approach, that can be conducting regular customised GRC training sessions.
  • Review and update existing audit and data policies and data processes, to identify gaps and incorporate an effective accountability program by monitoring regular customised training sessions

The GDPR Awareness Training is a quick, affordable and efficient means of delivering the mandatory training on the critical requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), customised to multiple staff members and managers. The GDPR Awareness Training and E-Learning tool is a simple-to-use flexible web-based program to familiarise all employees to the critical compliance components, and to the management obligation for GDPR compliance.

The aim of the GDPR is to protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches in today’s data-driven world. Although the key principles of data privacy still hold true to the previous directive, many changes have been proposed to the regulatory policies; the key points of the GDPR as well as information on the impacts it will have on business are discussed in this 1-day GDPR Awareness Training.

The GDPR regulation came into effect on May 25th 2018. This one-day GDPR Awareness training course incorporates participative sessions with scenario-based material to help candidates build understanding, stimulate interest and gain commitment to changing their organization’s culture. Through their engagement in this course, participants will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for making a difference.

Learning Objectives

Whilst many see it as another compliance matter, growth in the digital economy and changing public expectations present an opportunity to build a data privacy culture within organizations. An organization’s workforce represents a significant risk of a data breach. Encouraging individuals to think about GDPR in the context of their own data will help them to support data protection and privacy practices in their organization.

The GDPR Awareness training course aims to promote an individual’s engagement in data privacy matters. It focuses on the key aspects of GDPR that affect an organization and the associated risks and opportunities. There is a strong emphasis on interactive sessions to engage participants in taking personal responsibility for making a difference.

The course recognizes that understanding and interpretation of the regulation will continue to evolve, and organizations will be at different stages of their compliance journey. Real-life examples are used extensively, as well as latest guidance from the UK Information Commissioners Office.

The course will help candidates to:

  • Understand the reasons for the new regulation and its scope of applications;
  • Identify associated risks and opportunities;
  • Understand the key principles and conditions that determine the lawful basis for data processing and protection;
  • Identify next steps for achieving compliance
  • Develop a data privacy mind-set

The implications of non-compliance are severe: an organization can be fined up to 4% of annual global turnover or €20 million (whichever is higher) for breaching GDPR.

Target Audience

The GDPR Awareness training course and certification are designed for any individuals that need to be familiar with the GDPR regulation. It will enable them to identify next steps for responsible data management, helping to ensure compliance within their organization.
