Short-Term & Long-Term Visions for RPA Implementation

Short-Term & Long-Term Visions for RPA Implementation

We can’t deny how Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has changed how businesses operate. RPA has often been presented as a solution that helps transform businesses by streamlining manual tasks, achieving higher efficiency, productivity, and quality of work, and at the same time, lower down costs too. All these benefits allow the employees in the businesses/organizations to do more with less, improving employees’ experiences and increasing profit margins.

However, many organizations or business leaders are somehow too focused on task-based automation and the benefits of it. These are the short-term vision that gains support and sponsors, but more often that organizations neglect the long-term vision too, which is what RPA can still deliver in the bigger picture that is aligned with the company objectives and direction. Neglecting the deeper potential of RPA becomes one of the key barriers to why business leaders and stakeholders provide insufficient focus and investment in RPA projects. To gain current and future business adaptiveness and resilience, there is no doubt that organizations need both short-term and long-term vision to support moving towards implementing intelligent automation across business processes, which is the right direction in achieving strategic value.

To see beyond the short-term gain, business leaders and stakeholders should focus on the strategic vision. They should put in efforts to align the RPA implementation objectives with the overall digital transformation strategy to create an aligned strategy. It is also important for organizations to create an automation-leveraging culture by embracing the technology and remodeling the business operation with the digital-first approach in order to attract wider buy-in within the business or organization.

RPA and Intelligent Automation is not an overnight project. There are different phases of implementation needed to go through in order to implement intelligent automation. Generally, we can refer to it as RPA’s short-term vision and long-term vision. These visions outline the organization’s aspirations and objectives of the RPA implementation.

RPA Short-Term Vision (0-12 months):

RPA Long-Term Vision (12+ months):

In conclusion, while the short-term vision for RPA implementation emphasizes achieving rapid efficiencies and quick wins, the long-term vision envisions a transformative landscape where intelligent automation becomes seamlessly integrated into every aspect of the organization, fostering collaborative human-bot workflows and propelling sustained business growth through continuous innovation.
